Accompanist: Leads and supports music during Mass on piano or guitar. Intermediate skill level required.
Altar Server: Assists the priest during Mass. Open to those who have made their First Communion and are in 3rd grade or older.
Cantor: Leads the assembly in singing during Mass. Some solo singing required. Open to Middle School students and older.
Children's Liturgy of the Word Leader: Helps our little ones during Mass to understand the scripture readings and prayers at their level of development. Materials are provided. Background check and Virtus Safe Child Environment training required. Assistants are needed as well!
Commentator: Welcomes everyone to our weekend Masses, proclaims the Prayers of the Faithful, and delivers the parish announcements at the end of Mass. Open to Middle School students and older. Eucharistic Minister: Aids in the distribution of the Body and Blood of Christ during Communion. Open to those who have been confirmed.
Greeter: Opens the door, smiles and says hello as people arrive for Mass. A great ministry for families!
Holiday Choirs: Come sing or play an instrument for our Christmas Eve or Easter Vigil Masses! Intended for musicians in high school and older.
Homebound Eucharistic Minister: Takes the Body of Christ to our sick or elderly parishioners who are unable to attend Mass.
Kids Choir: Open to children in grades 1-4. We lead the music for 4 Masses throughout the year and have a lot of fun doing it! Practices are on Sunday mornings at 9am, usually twice a month. We end the year with a picnic at Kids Kingdom.
Lector: Proclaims scripture readings during the Liturgy of the Word at Mass. Open to Middle School students and older.
Middle School Choir & Band: Open to youth in grades 5-8. We lead the music for 4 Masses throughout the year. Choir practices are on Wednesday evenings (before EDGE sessions) from 5:15-6:00pm. Band practices are on Sunday mornings at 9am, usually twice a month.
Sacristan: Prepares and sets up the items needed for Mass, such as lighting candles, putting out hosts and wine, washing dishes, and taking collection money to the bank, and so on. This is a another great ministry for families.
Usher: Greets people as they arrive, makes sure everyone has a place to sit, collects money during the offering, passes out bulletins after Mass, and more!
High School Choir & Band: For singers and instrumentalists in grades 9-12. We lead the music for Mass once a month during the school year. Rehearsals are at 9am for the 10am Mass that same day.
Scheduling
Scheduling is done by our Liturgy and Music Coordinator using a web-based system called Ministry Scheduler Pro. Ministers are invited by email to submit the dates they are unavailable and MSP creates a scheduled based on availability, as well as your preference of frequency and Mass time. Want to serve at the same Mass as your family or with a partner? MSP can do that!
Linen Care: These individuals take special care of the linens used during our Eucharistic celebrations. Volunteers are asked to launder the linens each week during their scheduled month.
Liturgy Committee: Meets once a month to do the behind-the-scenes planning that help make our Masses at St. Mary excellent!
Prayer of the Faithful Writers: This group meets once a month to pray through scripture readings and write thoughtful petitions that will be proclaimed during Mass.
Rosary Leader: Leads the assembly in praying the rosary before a Mass on the first full weekend of the month. Materials provided. Open to Middle School students and older. Worship Environment: We change the decor in the nave to best express the liturgical season or holy day. All sorts of folks are needed for this ministry: artists, sewers, folks to care for plants, organizers, builders...and people not afraid of heights! Your unique gifts and skills are needed!
