Pastoral Council Meeting 1 – 15 – 19 Attendees: Renee Aschbrenner, Ruth Schluter, Jennifer Siech, Mary Ann Hinders, Trent Lockard, Elaine Lawler, Michelle Even, Father Ambrosy, and Dan Duffner from Finance Committee. November 27, 2018 minutes were reviewed. Dan moved to approve and Mary Ann seconded the motion. Ruth moved to approve the Peace & Justice Committee tithe recipients: Catholic Charities (national) and Catholic League Immigration Network (international). Renee seconded the motion and the committee approved the tithe recipients. It was determined that all committee minutes should be posted on the Parish website. Follow-up discussion from the parish meeting was held to establish the best time for the task force to meet in order to provide timely communication to the parish. If the task force meets the week after the Pastoral Council, there will be a month delay in communicating that task force activities. It was suggested that the task force meet the week before the Pastoral Council. Finance Council – Jan 15, 2019 Agenda: Penny Toay, Dan Duffner, Steve Phyfe, Kelly Flege, Scott Danner, Kelly Willis, Fr Dave Ambrosy. Also present: Deacon Phil Paladino, Dixie Jacobs. Monthly Offertory: The end of calendar year offertory gifts were generous, and the offering budget has caught up considerably. However, the year to date giving is about $11,600 behind last year’s giving. This is approximately the amount of gifts, which came in Dec 2017 from parishioners gave 2018 offerings early for the tax benefit. Therefore, this could bounce back in 2019. The finance council will monitor this for future budgeting. The council is appreciative of parishioners’ support throughout the year. Expenses are below budget, including staffing due to the coordinator of faith formation choosing to go part-time and utilities being about $2000 below budget. Kelly Flege made a motion to accept the finances as presented; Penny seconded the motion; the motion passed unanimously passed. Financial Letter to Parish: A draft was distributed. Dixie will make the suggested changes and email a new draft to members before it is mailed with the contribution statements. Envelopes: Fr Dave would like to see an envelope for the Holy Days. The council will review the envelopes for next year. Feb Agenda: envelopes, update Feasibility committee, monthly financials. Dan and Scott cannot attend in Feb. Meeting adjourned so members could attend the all parish meeting. Liturgy Committee Meeting – Jan 8, 2019 Called to order by Ellie Hilbert. There were 8 members present: Fr. David Ambrosy, Mollie Muntefering, Ellie Hilbert, Donna McNulty, Susie Poock, Ruth Schluter, Gayle Dunnwald, and Bev Brus. The opening prayer and reflection presented by Ellie Hilbert – Mk 6:34-44 Tuesday, and the January 8 reflection was used. The minutes of the last meeting were read silently. The minutes were approved as read. Old Business: What we did best and what we would like to change: Advent Liturgies Wreath & decorations Keep the Advent wreath on the altar. It was a good focal point. Over the summer we will look for material to put on the step so it goes with the Advent colors. Remind sacristans to light the Advent candles the 2nd through 4th week. It worked good to have the same first song Ready the Way, Spoken Prayers of the Faithful with same response for Advent, and Sang the last song acapella. Christmas Nativity & Decorations The old nativity set is sold. Put out in stages this year. That worked. Music Mass on Christmas Eve 4p.m. & 8p.m. Mass on Christmas Day 9a.m. Everything went well. Someone mentioned to Father that a lot of people didn’t sing in the hall. Sounded good in the church. Need to watch the number of hosts and wine for the 4 pm Mass. We had too many hosts this year. Epiphany students did a nice job. Comments on the book given by the Parish has been positive. Retreat updates Schedule Mollie handed out a schedule of the Retreat Day. Father will use Blessings from the Blessing Book. Everything looked good. Mollie and leaders are meeting Wednesday night to finish planning the break out sessions. We will use name tags and have greeters when people come in. Refreshments will be during the break. Mollie will have a feedback form ready. See sheet for the schedule. Mollie will ask Michelle about having tours of the Atrium. The ending prayer will be in the hall so everyone is out of church when people start coming for Mass. Some points to bring out at the retreat in the breakout sessions were have the Eucharistic ministers wait until everyone is done serving the wine. Then if a lot is left over they can all help finish it. It will look more respectful if everyone leaves at the same time. The Reader that carries in the Book of Gospels with Father does not need to bow at the altar just put the book on the altar. When the reader goes to read they should bow before the ambo. New Business: Ash Wednesday - March 6, 2019 The Mass services will be 7am and 6 pm. At noon will be a Prayer Service. Deacon Phil will not be able to lead this. Select Theme for Lent We will look at this next month. There will be one consistent song, Prayers of the Faithful response will be the same during Lent, Silent entrance with the bell, No Gloria, Song after Communion to tie in with theme for week and the Prayers of the Faithful can tie in with the theme. We will talk about the following next month: Music for Lent, Stations of the Cross, Simple Suppers, Reconciliation Service , Holy Week, Holy Thursday - April 18, 2019, Washing of Feet, Place of Reservation for the Blessed Sacrament, Good Friday - April 19, 2019, St. Peter’s Fire, Holy Saturday - April 20, 2019, Easter Vigil - April 20, 2019, Easter Sunday - April 21, 2019, Date and Time of Next Meeting: Tues, Feb 12, 2019, 6:30 p.m. in the Office Conference Room.
