Finance Council Meeting, Mar 15, 2016:
Attendees: Michele Stevens, Chuck Mashek, Tom Singewald, Janine Roberts, Chris Holthaus, Fr David Schatz. Also present: Deacon Phil Paladino, Dixie Jacobs.
Minutes were reviewed and accepted as written.
Monthly Financials: Offertory is about $16,000 above last year’s giving (adjusting for the extra week this year); and $30,000 above budget. The 2nd half of taxa, property insurance and priest health insurance will be paid in March. These will be the last large expenditures this fiscal year.
LED Lights: An analysis of LED lights for all lights was distributed. A similar analysis of the parking lot repairs will be ready for the April meeting. These are both large projects, and the finance council review both before making budgeting decisions.
Budget 2016-17: The council decided the Generation of Faith fee budget should be lowered from $7000 to $5000 to better reflect the expected income. This would be a 25% increase from this year’s registration fee total. The faith formation commission and staff have a plan for early registration, and to encourage more participation. The electric budget was increased 10% from projected actual; water/garbage increased 2.5% from projected actual; and heating gas increased ½% from projected actual. These were the rates the utility providers are proposing for 2016.
Decision Item – 2016/17 Personnel Budget: The finance council reviewed the draft budget with the salary package changes from the Feb meeting. The total change was $12,235. Janine seconded the motion; the motion passed unanimously.
Decision Item – 2016/17 Budget Parish Support of NCYC: Coordinator of youth formation, requested the $5000/fiscal year the parish supplements toward NCYC expenses be expanded to include Catholic Heart Workcamp. Both of these trips are about $500 per participant. Part of this funding is used to off-set part of chaperones’ expenses. Chris made a motion to approve the use of the parish supplement of $5000/fiscal year for NCYC and Catholic Heart Workcamp at the coordinator youth formation’s discretion. Janine seconded the motion; the motion passed unanimously.
April Agenda: Budget 2016/17, LED and parking lot projects.
