What is youth ministry all about????

Encouraging teens to have a deeper personal relationship with Jesus.
Empowering each other ot live as disciples of Jesus Christ in today's world.
Drawing young people to responsible participation in life, mission, and work of our parish and Catholic faith community.

What are you doing for Lent this year???

It's great to give up things (fasting), but what else can you do (prayers & almsgiving)?

Use the "Little Black Books" at church to focus on your prayer life.
Attend a Tues 5:30pm Lenten Mass & Simple Supper
Help with Good Fri. Stations of the Cross
Pray with your family at meals
Participate in Sunday Masses & Communal Reconciliation (Mar 21)
Pray the "Our Father" 3X a day.
Donate items to persons in need
Help a neighbor shovel snow or other small jobs
Volunteer at a care center
Show an act of kindness to a family member or school mate
Do someone's chores without telling them or being asked
Read a book or play a game with a younger sibling or elderly relative

TEC - Teens Encounter Christ

High school seniors are invited to a 3-day Catholic retreat experience. It is a great opportunity in preparation of important decisions to give our lives definite direction: vocational, social, educational, & spiritual. 2009 dates include: Nov 14-16 Cedar Rapids, Jan 30-Feb 1 Bellevue, Feb 13-15 Waterloo, Feb 27-Mr 1 Eagle Grove, Mar 13-15 Gilbertville, Mar 27-29 Ryan, Apr 10-12 Spillville, Apr 17-19 Dubuque, June 26-28 Mason City. Calling All Kids Who Love to Sing...

Kid’s Choir is for children in grades 1-6. We practice on the 1st & 3rd Wed of the month in the church from 5-5:45 pm. We usually sing at 4 Masses per year (at 5:15 or 10 am).

Kid’s choir is much more than singing. We do fun activities together, learn more about music & the Mass. Not sure about kids choir??? — Check it out. If you have any questions, please contact Jenny smc.lit@q.com.

Notre Dame Vision, grades 9-12th (fall of 2010 or graduating spring 2010). Opportunity to explore how God is calling you & how you can respond with your gifts in your daily life. June 21-25, June 28-July 2, July 12-16, or July 19-23. Cost $275-375, scholarships available.
Serve N Slide, jr. high students have a day of service & a day at Lost Island water park on July 21-22
Mystery Service Trip for high school students on June 14-16. Get on a bus for 2 days of service & a day of fun! Unknown (mystery) location.

Stations of the Cross Apr 2

High School students present the Stations using silhouettes & music you hear on the radio. We need readers, actors behind the screen, & people to run the lights & music. Practice is Wed, Mar 24.

Thank You - "Souper Bowl"

Thank you to everyone who participated in the collection on Feb 8. We raised over $2,067! Wow! The funds were distributed to the Waverly, Readlyn, Allison, Clarksville, & Shell Rock Food Banks.

24-Hour Famine

9-12th grade are invited Mar 19-20. Begins 6pm with small snacks & activities focusing on hunger; also sleep. We have service projects on Sat, & end the event with Sat Mass. Signup with Jenny.

Blessing Our Graduates

Recognition & blessing for our graduates on May 2 at the 10am Mass with breakfast following. High school & college graduates mark your calendars!
