Hello Parish Family,
As you may know, I am returning to serve as the Coordinator of Faith Formation this week at St. Mary! I could not be more happy or excited to be coming back and continuing the strong tradition of intergenerational faith formation.
I can hardly believe it has been over a year and a half since I left to go to Minnesota to pursue an education in Theology. My family and I have experienced so many twists and turns since we left! When I started in youth ministry in the twin cities, my plan was to attend St. Catherine's University and finish a bachelor's degree in Catechetical Studies. Due to a chance encounter with a professor at St. John's University in Collegeville, MN, and thanks to the pastoral ministry experience St. Mary Parish had given me, I instead was admitted to the Youth in Theology and Ministry Master's Degree program at St. John's, and am a little over a year away from earning a graduate degree in Pastoral Ministry. This master's program and the experience I have gained at parishes in Minnesota have prepared me to serve in the faith formation coordinator's position in ways I never would have experienced had I stayed at St. Mary. It was such a hard move away, but it makes sense to me now why I felt so strongly pulled in that direction at the time. I can't help but feel God has been slowly nudging me to this place, and I am so thankful for the tools and experience I've picked up along the way that will help me serve St. Mary.
My family is just as happy to be returning to Waverly, as well - all the kids have stayed in touch with their friends and we are anticipating a smooth transition back into the school here.
Please pray for me, as well as all of our staff and parish, that we may enter into the journey of faith together and walk closer to God each day.
Your servant in Christ, Michelle Stone
